Subsequently
the three Doors, John Densmore, Robby Krieger and
Ray Manzarek as well as Danny Sugerman, The Doors'
manager, began the task of reviewing every live tape and came away
impressed by what they heard. These concert recordings, while not
altogether perfect by current commercial standards, successfully
capture a wide range of exciting Doors music live-from the drunken
over-the-top Boston concerts, to the intense, bluesy show in Detroit,
to the stunning performances in Hollywood. What wasn't deemed commercial
a quarter century ago now sounds like pristine history. The Doors
on the road, having fun and stretching their live performance muscles
in often exhilarating concerts, have been preserved. Our aim with
Bright Midnight Archives is to make available all of these concerts,
over thirty hours of live Doors music, 90 percent of which has never
been heard before.
The
new releases will be presented in their entirety and unedited, culled
primarily from the tour that was recorded in 1969 to produce Absolutely
Live. We have also procured additional concert tapes recorded directly
from the sound board to be made available on Bright Midnight
Archives. Our primary goal is to release the best sounding recording
and the highest quality artwork at the lowest possible price. The
Doors commitment to high standards and excellence will be in full
effect. In addition to the above mentioned concert recordings, The
Doors have procured a half-dozen more high quality sounding concerts
which will also be made available.
