THE DOORS LIVE IN PHILADELPHIA '70 THE SPECTRUM - May 1st 1970
Setlist
_____________________________________________
(Announcer) Now wait a second. Hey, now last week, we were all out in the park. We had 25,000 people. 25,000 hippies out in the park,
man. It was beautiful. Okay? Alright, now we want everything to be cool here. We want to do more concerts, and want
to do more "be-ins". But man,
like.. the man just says there's a couple of small rules. There's your brothers and sisters
sitting in the front seats. They
want to see this show too. Now,
you're just gonna have to move back. Okay? Hey, man. You people are just gonna have to move
back.. go back to your seats.. and sit down, man, and make aisles, or there's
just no show. Alright, come
on. Now, we're not trying to
bullshit you man. We're trying to
lay it right on the fucking line, man. Just move back to your seats. Hey, you people down here.. come on, man.. (person in crowd yells "We want the Doors!") Yeah, well we
want The Doors too, man, and this is the only way we're going to get 'em. So we're either going to listen, or we
ain't gonna to have it. You know
what I mean? And I ain't trying to
bullshit you. Come on.. give you..
give yourselves a break man, because the longer you people take, they're just..
the longer they're gonna hold the show up. And the shorter show we're gonna have. You know? Kids in front, you know, like, this isn't helping us either,
you know? Like, just, you know,
like, you know.. every time this happens, we're just gonna stop the show. And you're just gonna screw up all
these people up here. And they're
your brothers and sisters, man, just as.. just as much as they are mine.
What? The gentleman over
here.. on my right.. is the manager of The Doors. And he says we.. he just said.. that The Doors don't want
anybody up here. That they have
enough problems, and enough troubles right now. Okay? Right. Right. And like.. like the thing is, like
they're gonna wait.. an hour.. until this whole thing is clear. Now if we wait an hour.. that's just
gonna cut down on the show time because we gotta be out at a certain time. So all you kids down here. You gotta go back to your seats. This is a concert, man. We'll be out in the park Sunday. But this is a concert. (crowd starts chanting "bull-shit")
You know, like.. you gotta stay there and sing man, our hair is just as
long as yours.
(Bill Siddons) We really hate to be nasty, folks but we just can't start
the show. The fire marshals told
us we can't start the show until you get out of the isles. So if you want to sit there until
midnight, have a nice sit, but the show won't start until the area is
clear. Sorry about that. I don't make the rules.
(Announcer) Alright, okay, hello? Alright, we're getting pretty close. But the only thing holding us up is just the few people back
here. The people back there, if
you want to talk to them, because they're the only ones holding up your good
time. Just a few people down
here. Every minute you kids stay
here, you're cutting off their.. the playing time, and those people a good
time. See, we're all ready..
Morrison and Manzarek, everybody's just standing back there just waiting for a
few of these idiots down here. (crowd cheers)
Now there's one more thing.. and only one more thing.. These people..
The Doors.. as soon as you people start coming down.. they're gonna walk off
the stage. It's as simple as
that. That's what they are telling
us. But we want to make this a concert. "Be-in's" are for the park.
(applause/tuning)
(drum/guitar intro to Roadhouse Blues)

You can't
remember where it was, had this dream stopped.
The snake was
pale, gold.. glazed and shrunken.
We were afraid
to touch it.
The sheets were
hot, dead prisons.
And she was
beside me.
Old.
She's no.
Young.
Her dark, red
hair.
The soft, white
skin.
Now..
Run to the
mirror in the bathroom! Look!
She's coming in
here.
I can't live
through each slow century of her moving.
I let my cheek
slide down the cool, smooth tile.
Feel the good,
cold, stinging blood.
The smooth..
Hissing..
Snakes..
Of rain!
(drum crack/organ intro to
